The Mecosta County Rod and Gun club in collaboration with the Mecosta County 4-H program will start the 2012 "Youth Shooting Program" for all youth between the ages of 11 and 17 years of age. The program takes place at the Mecosta County Rod and Gun Club grounds. For directions see click here
There will be an organizational and sign up meeting on Saturday, April 21, 2012 starting at 2:00 PM in the main clubhouse. Parents or guradians must attend this meeting.
Partixipants will start shooting Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 5:30 PM and each Thursday after until the end of August. Everyone will start out with the marksmanship training using BB guns, move to .22's, shot guns, archery and muzzleloaders. Students will also learn how to reload shot gun shells and will reload their own shells each week. There is no charge for this event.
As this group advances, students will be able to choose shooting competitions with other conservation clubs, 4-H programs, bothj regional and state competitions if they desire.
